Vintage Radios

Valve radios and record players have been a real passion of mine since the late 80’s.
I’ve restored many of them for myself and many happy customers.
These date from wartime radios through the decades to the eighties radio’s our parents all had in the kitchen. These radio’s look great in the home and there are still a few stations on AM to listen to, however I do offer the option to fit Bluetooth so they can continue  be enjoyed by playing period music and radio programs via your PC or phone making them more useable in our modern world.
As with all repairs, the electronics will be thoroughly gone through and faulty components either replaced with ‘new old stock’ or modern equivalents. (Depending on availability)
If you require the wooden cabinet touching up, that can be done too. I call it a ‘sympathetic restoration’. Radio cabinets can be disassembled, deep cleaned to remove decades of cigarette and coal fire smoke. The  cabinet will then have its scratches and ‘dings’ coloured to match the original colour and then the cabinet will be oiled to replenish the lustre of the wood. Finally, the cabinet is sealed with a few coats of beeswax – Just like it was done when it was built.
